12 bolt drive shaft

12 bolt drive shaft

anybody know how long the driveshaft needs to be for an m6 car with a 12 bolt. stock shaft is now to long. i bought a chromoly 3.5 inch shaft with a billet yoke and 1350 u jointa out of a powerglide car and need to have it shortend to fit. just wondering wat length shaft other guys with 12 bolts are running. thanks for any help.

You need to measure. Denny's has good instruction as to how. Usually, it's 1/2-3/4" shorter than stock.

Ditto.... temporarily put your stock DS in and check the clearance so you can calculate the correct length. Anything less than that and you could easilly end up with the wrong DS length and damage stuff.

yeah i used the driveshaft diagram from dennys to measure but i am going to have it shortend locally so i just wanted to hear what other people have come up with. i put the stock shaft in and is long enough that it does not fit. the stock shaft is 41 inches long and i figure i will need to have a 40 inch driveshaft for it to fit right.
