How would a 3000 GT VR4 Twin Turbo do against a LT1 or LS1 F-body?
How would a 3000 GT VR4 Twin Turbo do against a LT1 or LS1 F-body?
Hey guys theres a 3000GT VR4 Twin Turbo (AWD) around my parts that wants to race me in my 95 Trans Am or my friend in his 01 T/A WS6.
If either of us were to race the 3000Gt how would the outcome be?
Has anyone here raced a 3000GT VR4 and would like to share their story?
Please post if you know, thx.

I saw one run consistent 13.2-13.3's. Sounded stock, but I don't know. I also don't know what he was trapping. They're AWD with 320hp, and they weigh about the same as an F-body. AWD can be tricky to launch well (unless the driver is insane and has no problem ponying up for a replacement differential or three), so you have a chance to get a jump.
I would bet on the VR4 against an LT1, but a well-driven LS1 has a chance.

I'd tend to agree with Jake on the outcome IF the LT1 is stock. It'll be close if you get a decent launch, cause with AWD, he probally will get a good launch or blow up trying! LOL

I was able to get a 13.7@100mph out of the car with a bad clutch, clutch would slip if I launched higher than 3K rpms, so I'd launch at 2K and only get a 2.0 60'.
But they are fun as **** to drive, gets up to about 135mph quickly, but 135-160 takes awhile. My friend in his 95 Supra TT BPU had to keep letting off and hitting the brakes so he wouldn't run into me on the way back.

I'll let you guys know how my 95 LT-1 A4 Trans Am does against this guys 98 M6 3000GT VR4 this saturday heh
I think were gonna do best of 3 or best of 5 , were gonna do atleast 1 from a dig others will be anywhere from 10-30mph rolls

IIRC the 91-93s with 300hp would run 13.9s-14.1s. The 94+ with 320 hp pulled a mid 13 as the best I've ever read them doing stock. Keep in mind that the 91-95s had all the extras and were the heaviest. The last few years, particularly the ones with the large Sti-ish spoilers were the lighest of htem all because Mitsu had axed all the cool stuff in an effort to keep cost down and maybe produce a better performing car.
I think the only differance between the 300's and the 320's were an increase in boost, but don't quote me on that. The later years also had a 6 speed so they may benefit from better gearing.
I side with the LS1 win, and close race on the stock LT1 race. Good luck.

you dont know what your dealing with the vr4s and r/t steaths will bite you in the butt.A stock car will give you a run for your money but a few small mods do lot for those cars.I worked on them before and if you go to dynamicracing.com and look at matt monett car you will see what a vr4 can do.This is the stuff i have to run in my town!

Well, then it wasn't a Vr4 twin turbo. They made several models. The base Mitsu had a 220 hp non turbo 3L v6, while the Stealth had that plus an even worse 180hp SOHC that went into the ES model.

an LS1 will get 2 cars length at least.. they got almost the same HP but l guess LS1 would put more to the ground.. but they will beat LT1s at least 2 cars length. IMO
