93 guage question

I recently bought a 93 Z28 with 56,000 miles. I'm new to Camaros, and don't know if this is common but when I filled my tank the guage was reading at 1/4 tank and I filled it full as it would go and it took 13 gallons. Now the needle is so far past full it may as well be reading the temp. guage. I thought these cars have only a 15 gallon tank? So I was wondering is this common? Now I'm wondering if the guages have been removed.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Thanks!!

These cars usually always go way over Full. You'll also notice once you hit 1/2 tank you can go about 20 more miles and you'll be on a 1/4 tank. Its just the way the tank is shaped.

Re: 93 guage question

It's normal.. When it starts to go below 1/2 you better not have very far to go.. That's when the gauge starts dropping like a lead weight... I learned the hard way that 1/8 of a tank is empty on my car.

Re: 93 guage question

Thanks for the info. I feel a lot better knowing that it's a common thing. I'll be sure not to let it get below half.

I appreciate the responses.
