Post OPINIONS on my new Best 1/4 ET

I went to the track Saturday. After a few runs and tinkering I got a good pass out of the Z.

Here it is:
60ft. 2.090
330ft 5.376
1/8 8.060 MPH 91.620
1/4 12.336 MPH 114.307

So any opinions about the time, considering my mods, do you guys think I am slow, fast or runnin average for the mods.

I am running a 150 shot .

Times arent bad,but the 60' sucks. considering the mods, you have some decent mph.
Get some better traction, get that 60' in the 1.8's where it at least should be,and the car will really get moving.

Yeah the 60' really does suck. But the tires I am running are Kumhos, and in my opinion they suck, but they were on the car when i bought it so I will at least wear them out.

So should I just get a set of Nittos for the back or should I get a set of ET Streets?

That is a real good et for Kumho radials. On the tire issue it really depends on how much you drive the car. I run et streets just to drive to the track and race. When I get home I put my 17's on with Kumhos b/c I drive my car everyday to work. Et streets don't last long street driving but hook alot better than dragradials. I ran my car yesterday to an 11.61@117mph,1.63 60' on et streets with a 150 shot but I don't think it would do that on drag radials. I think you maybe ok on dragradials though and you will definately run 11's. Later Clint

Yeah I know that the ET Streets would be good for street driving. What I meant was should I leave the Kumhos on the car and just get some ET Streets for when I go to the track or should I just get some nittos and not have to fool with changing tires when I go to the track.

Do you guys think the nittos are worth the money?

I run Nitto Drags full time, and I do think they are worth the money, but the main benifit is at the track once I lower the psi, although cruising around they still grab better then any other tire that I have run back there with 33 psi. I only drive my car on 2 days a week though. If you are going to be racking up the miles, take time to get a different set of rims with the ET Streets.

I saw in your sig you are running a 150 shot, and HPP3. Are you using any kind of timing retard? If not, pulling about 4-6 deg out on spray would help your mph.

I am considering the Nittos and leaving them on all the time. Don't really want to go through the trouble of changing tires everytime I want to run at the track. Also, I think I would rather have a tire that would spin a little than dead hoo and break my junky rearend.

I am not using anything to retard the timing, what should I get if I decide to do that?

How much do you think the headers would pick me up? I have been considering a set. Also, what kind should I get considering my mods, I thought about the MAC's but I am open to suggestions.

Any of the name brand headers will help you out, I would recommend getting a coated set, they last a lot longer, and keep some heat out of your engine compartment.
I use MSD ignition stuff, you would need a box (6A or 6AL), and a retard box or timing computer. The retard box has 3 retard stages, the timing computer has a single retard stage, and is a little cheaper. Those mods, and some tires, and you should be well into the 11's. Might also consider a cold air mod to get some cooler air into the CAI.
Another thing to help it launch, even on street tires, is to run an air bag in the right rear spring. DO you notice the left front coming up when you launch? That means it is rolling over on the right rear, and unloading that tire. An airbag helps to plant the right, and transfer some weight to the left rear, = better traction and 60' times.

Get some longtubes, you will probably pick up 4-5 tenths and 4-5 mph. Probably more like 6mph with your nitrous on.

I already have an MSD 6A.

I didn't really notice the left front coming up, it seemed to be launching evenly.

I would like to have a set of Hooker Long Tubes, but I was afarid of ground clearance issues because I have the car lowered an inch. Will there be any clearance issues?

I would definitely go with a set of coated Hooker Long Tubes if I could drop that kind of time and pick up that mph. So is that a realistic gain from the Long Tubes?
