LS1 into an LT1 car

Maybe I should have run a search before starting this thread.....but here goes!

Besides the obvious necessities [LS1 motor, wiring harness, LS1 bellhousing (M6)] what is needed for the swap? Are the motor mounts the same? Is the LS1 car's front suspension different? I guess I would need a different radiator....Any thoughts?

Re: LS1 into an LT1 car

Defintely need to try a "search".... the subject has been well covered.

The LS1 T56 is different than the LT1, and the clutch slave cylinder is different, so you need both those from the LS1 donor car. Motor mounts are radically different, maybe the K-members as well. The LS1 mount is a tall "pedestal". The front radiator support is different, as are the radiator connections, because the LS1 returned to "conventional flow" cooling. The fuel system is also different. LS1 uses a dead-end 58psi system, compared to the LT1's 43.5psi recirculated system.

And you didn't mention an LS1 PCM, obviously required.

Why not just buy an LS1 car?

Re: LS1 into an LT1 car

I like how my LT1 WS6 looks better than the LS1's......plus my dad owns a machine shop so I could scrape together all the internal stuff and do whatever I want with it. I have another LT1 with juice so I am not looking to completely abandon the Lt1's......

[EDITED]

For the original poster, there is a sticky in the V6 forum, should have just about the same info though

Why not skip the mod process altogether and just buy a fast car from the factory? An Enzo would do nicely.
