Oil Pan Removal

Do i need to lift the engine to remove the oil pan? Or will it hit the crank or oil pump inside?

Or does it unbolt and pull right off?

Re: Oil Pan Removal

But why do i have to lift it?

What does the oil pan have to clear? It looks like it comes right off.

Re: Oil Pan Removal

with your automatic the oilpan comes right out.... its the m6's that have to slightly raise the engine to drop the pan.

I hope this is true as I would like to check on my oil pick up and also see what crap I have in the bottom of the oil pan.

Re: Oil Pan Removal

You have to lift the engine 3" EVEN WITH AN AUTO. The reason is because you have to clear the crank. There's not enough room between the block and k-member to get it past the crank with the engine mounts still bolted.
