Headers what's the difference 94-95 / 96-97

what is the difference between headers for a 1994 & 1995 and for 1996 & 1997 LT1. I have a 1997 Trans Am and the only difference I can see is for the dual catalytic converters which I plan to get rid of so my question is will headers from a 94/95 fit my 97

The AIR tubes are different if you're going with emission's headers. If no emission's, then the race headers are all the same.

I'm not so sure the A.I.R. or the EGR manifold hookups are any different?

This is what a '95Z has for hookups (Thanks to Shoebox for the pic):

My '96Z hookups are the same; so I assume the '95 and '96 are the same.

I believe the only difference is the dual cat on 96+. My buddy put a pair of 95 Mac mid lengths & Y on his '97 SS, and the only difference I know of, is he had to convert to one cat and use rear O2 sims.

The Driver's side flange is different between the two, but since you'll be converting to a single cat setup, you shouldn't have to wory about that.

Thomas.

I had 94-95 headers with emission hookups on my 96. The y-pipe had no cats. There was no problem. I had to have an S-pipe made to hook up to the factory exhaust pipe.

But they will fit.

No one said the EGR was different. The diameter of the AIR connections is different between the single-cat manifolds and the dual-cat manifolds.

That's right, I forgot about the thread size difference. You'll need to figure out a way to mate the 96-97 A.I.R. check valves to the 95 headers; Shouldn't be too hard...

You don't have to take the pacesetters off, but two plugs are right behind primaries...and it's difficult. Takes about 20mins to take the plugs out, and about 1-1/2 hrs to put them back in...
