Try www. LT1swap.com-----
How many miles on the 94? If it's low mileage I would fix the blown head gasket. But, if you got the 96 out of the car,I would do a new waterpump and check the opti and the steam stuff at the rear of the motor before transplant.Torque down everything(intake manifold, heads, and all the peripherals) and change all the stuff that is a nightmare to reach.Hope this helps.

Re: 94 z28 engine ?
Direct replacement. Benefit is upgrade to vented Opti. I would use the 94 exhaust manifolds, without the big flange for the driver side cat. Is the 96 engine fron an M6 car? If not, swap the flex plate for you 94 flywheel.
You 94 engine harness/PCM will not have provision for the crankshaft position sensor. No big deal, leave it there to plug the hole in the 96 timing cover. Ditto on the EVAP vacuum switch near the front of the passenger valve cover. You could delete the switch and use the vacuum line from your 94. AIR plumbing on the 96 is completely different than 94. If you still have AIR system, use 94 components.
Very important - remove the 96 knock sensor and replace it with the 94 knock sensor. The are not interchangeable. 96 KS will set a code when used with the 94 PCM.
