97 Z28 Over Heating Problems

problem started when my wife drove it and called and said the car was running hot she cut it off and called for a toe truck when they got the car home i checked it out the plastic part of the radiator on the right side had a crack running up it what made it do it was the smog pump went bad and blew the fuse so the fans would not come on so it made it run hot put a new smog pump and a new radiator on it drove it to town about 18 miles ran fine started back and the temp hand would go up and down bleed to the places ans still it run hot and runs out the over flow u can hear it it bubbleing need help. Thanks

Odd.... when the AIR pump fails and sets a code, the PCM runs the fans whenever the AIR pump should be working.

Check the coolant for the presence of hydrocarbons. If it got hot enough, may have blown a head gasket.

Dose the coolant foam at all when it starts to circulate, if so that also might be a sign of a blown head gasket plus if your exhaust smells a little sweet that also a sing of something leaking coolant. If you pressurize the radiator with the car not running get pressure to a reasonable pressure and let sit it shouldn't drop that much in a 5 min period. If you can and I know its a pain to do so pull the plugs out and check to see if the have any crap on the electrode that's a sine of something going on.
