New ICM just fried!!! Bad opti?

Re: New ICM just fried!!! Bad opti?
What went "out" on the Opti?
Cap/rotor would only affect routing the spark from the coil to the plugs. Nothing to do with the ICM. Cam position sensor in the Opti tells the PCM when to fire the coil, via the ICM, but that's just a 5V. pulse on the white wire from the PCM to the ICM. If you lose the low resolution signal from the Opti, the PCM shuts down the fuel system and the engine stops running. If you lose the high res signal from the Opti, the PCM continues using only the low res signal.
Can't see how the Opti going out would "fry" the ICM.
Did you use the heat transfer compound behind the ICM?
