trans slip under WOT?
Just had a tune done on my car, after 3.73 gear install, the car seems like it loses traction under wide open throttle but there is no wheel spin it just free revs, this only happens under WOT. car has 200k miles on it. fluid is sort of dark but not burnt. Should i change fluid add an additive or get a new trans? could be something different?

Re: trans slip under WOT?
If it was not doing this before the gear swap and tune take it back to the guy who tuned it
and explain to him what's going on
after the gear swap in my car the transmission would not shift into 2nd gear at WOT " NO SLIPPING "
it would hit the rev limit and then it would shift into gear...
if its slipping most likely your going to need a transmission there is a guy on here Frank at CPT
get in touch with him before you buy a p.o.s transmission from some local guy that doesn't Know what he doing.......

Re: trans slip under WOT?
What year is your car? There are 3 different version of the 700R4/4L60E/4L60E(pwm lockup) used from 93-97. If it is a 94-97 have you scanned the PCM for codes? The trans codes don't turn on the SES light.

Re: trans slip under WOT?
its a 4l60e. me and the tuner guy test drove the car after the tune and it was fine, but WOT on the dragstrip forget about it. maybe his 300lb body weight reduced my rwhp. lol i dk. prob going to be a trans i can get one from advance for 1200 3 year warranty, putting a stall in it with headers. So i can have more problems.lol

Re: trans slip under WOT?
The gear swap very well could be putting enough extra stress on the trans to make a transmission issue more noticeable. In stock form, the 4L60E doesn't like to be shifted at higher RPMs. If there are no codes, then you might want to check the fluid condition. Is it still normal color, or is it brown/black? Does it have a burnt smell? At 200,000, you're most likely due for a trans rebuild.
