Re: New Gears & LSD

It will fit but won't have the reluctor ring required for your abs to work. The rings for three series gears are different than two series. I don't know if your two series one will work or not.

Re: New Gears & LSD

So evidently a 'trac option car' means a 4 channel ABS & Traction Control. 4 channel ABS & TC started as an option in 1995. Your 1994 car/system is 3 channel ABS.
3 channel ABS cars have a tone/reluctor ring mounted on the carrier. 2 different rings,one for 2.73 & 3.08(2 series) and one for 3.23 & 3.42(3 series).

Your 94 would have had an Auburn posi carrier, the 2001 would have a Torsen posi carrier.

Using the 2001 parts will not allow the ABS system to function and the ABS dash light will stay lit,BUT the brakes will still have normal braking ability.

Re: New Gears & LSD

The standard 3 channel reluctor/tone ring would press on to a Torsen carrier. BUT they're 'impossible' to get as GM stock is zero and has been for quite a few years.

Re: New Gears & LSD

best of luck in your search. Sometimes you gotta buy a broken/worn out carrier just to get the ring off of it.
seen threads of broken rings in the attempt to it.

Re: New Gears & LSD

the ring is necessary for ABS,front and rear.
post #20,you will still have brakes, regular non-ABS brakes.
the absence of the ring does not prevent normal driving.

Re: New Gears & LSD

Look at post #20..... IT HAS LABELED PHOTOS SHOWING THE RING AND WHERE IT IS LOCATED.

The ABS system adjusts the braking to the two front brakes and to the rear brakes as a pair. If any component in the system is defective (or not installed) the entire ABS system is deactivated and the "ABS INOP" light on the dash comes on.
