Aftermarket speaker wiring to stock HU?
The aftermarket deck in my car broke, so i decided to put a stock HU back in. Well the owner before me who had the AHU installed, went with new speaker wiring with no connections. How can I connect the new wiring to the factory harness without it lookng like a complete hack job and/or ruining the factory harness???
Im going to open the door panels up and see what Im dealing with. I know the door speakers are Delco, so i don't know why he would change the wiring.

Re: Aftermarket speaker wiring to stock HU?
Well, this really depends....
How were the speakers connected to the aftermarket HU? Were the wires going straight to the open ended wires coming from the headunit?
I'm sure the previous owner did this because he didn't want to;
A. use the crappy stock wiring
B. cut the factory harness end and make a mess
Open the door panels, and see if you can locate the factory harness that snaps into the speakers. If that's intact and in place, hook it up. If the factory harness on the radio end is intact, hook that up to the stock stereo. Make sure to test things out prior to putting everything back together.

Yeah and I appreciate that. He crush-capped the new wires into the aftermarket harness. Im going to open up the doors. Im hoping wires are still there.
I honestly am fine with stock sound, Im not an audio-phile. As long as it doesn't crack or pop and all speakers play sound, Im good.
Lets say the wiring is gone, or the wires are bad and using the stock speaker wires don't produce sound,,,, do they make GM to GM wiring harnesses so I can tie those speakers into the aftermarket harness? Make sense?

Probably easier to just buy a cheap $75 HU @ Best Buy and slap that in....
Hell if you ask around I bet someone has an old HU just hanging around they'll let go for cheap...

I just sold off an Alpine deck with 2xpreamp outputs as well as the iPod cable (normally sold separately for 25) all for 40 bucks.
If you insist on keeping the stock radio/speakers and the wiring is messed up, you can use the pre-existing wire and just cut into the stock/factory harness. You'll just need to know what wire is what which is easy to find online.

A little update, the sail panel speakers aren't original. Nor do they have factory connections. Hence the new speaker wire. Door speakers are next to be inspected. Rear hatch speakers are the only ones powered by the factory deck.
Checking the door speakers next.
