Anyone Know how to fix TA headrest problem?

I was wondering if anyone know how to fix the headrest problem on the 95 TA's. Basically, it is a ratchet style headrest and the problem is that it does not stay in place! If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know!!!
Thanks!

Will it not stay up or is the trouble front to rear?

The problem is front to rear! It will sometimes hold it's position for a little while, but then when you least expect it, it will release and move all the way back!

Do you have the headrest all the way down on the seat? If so try moving it up one click and see if it still does it. I will look in my manual and see if there is an adjustment. When I had mine off to have the emboidered I do not remember seeing one, but I was not looking either.

Do you have the fat style headrest or the thin style (I still can't figure out why there's two kinds, at least on the "leather" interiors)?

I have the fat style, and I've never been able to keep it in one place either. The thing will just pop out of position whenever it feels like it. I would think there's some kind of spring-loaded clip that could solve this problem. Maybe it was worn out when purchased?

well, I dont have the answser to your question...but I figured I would jump into this thread with another question. Does anybody know if the headrests form a 98+ Pontiac Grand Prix GTP will fit in a 96 TransAm?? I am talking about the headrests that are a big open rectangle, where you head can almost fit into the hole. Do you know what I am talking about. I asked this question last summer and did not get any responses, figured it would be worth a shot again this summer. Thanks

Theonly solution I can offer is to buy aftermarket seats. I have fought with mine since the car was new. The dealer worked on them at LEAST 6 times, and they are still broke. I've worked on them countless times, to no avail. Corbeaus, here I come this summer!!

I have the thick headrest!! The problem is just like you guys described! It moves on it's own out of no where! Someone must have a solution for this. I heard at one point that there was a manufacturing step missed at the factory. Surely they should know how to fix this!?!

I haven't been able to fix mine, either. I'm a mechanic by trade, and I've done everything I can think of to fix it, but it just doesn't work.
