Who has Hooker Long Tubes?

Just looking for some feed back on them...

Performance / Sound / Fit / Ground Clearance etc. etc. etc.

If I were to do it again, I'd go with the Hooker LTs for my IROC instead of the shorties. Performance is really good, exhaust really wakes these cars up, but I don't have any numbers to back it up. I've never heard of any ground clearance problems. Some people have had difficulting installing them. Sometimes they don't always fit perfectly, but they can be made to fit.

I have the super comp long tubes on my 85 IROC. Ground clearance was lower than expected but not unbearable. My car has Hotchkis lowering springs and I have about 3-4" to ground. Passenger side has one split tube where you have to install it after header is in. Tube is for cyl.#8. Cyl#8 also had clearance issue with crossmember. Took gentle persuasion with hammer to fit . Look nice under hood! Recommend them over any shorties.

I recently bought a pair for my car ! They are awesome !!!!!! I wish i would have bought then a little sooner than I did . They do require a little patience for installation, but they give a awesome look under the hood:cool:

I had to do a lot of dimpling to get the nuts to go on the header studs. I also had to use a combination of studs and screws, because you couldn't use studs in all 12 holes. I took a good few hours to do all the dimpling because I took my time, didn't want to have 1 3/4" primaries turn into 1 1/2". I also did all that with the engine hanging from a cherypicker which made it a lot easier than in the car. Then after I spent all this time doing that someone broke into our garage (shouldn't say broke, it wasn't locked) and stole them along with a lot of other stuff. I was a little pissed off, but the car isn't going anywhere so I guess I'll just have to spend another $400.

That reminds me of another question. Would I be able to bolt on the headers first and then drop the motor into the car? Or is it too tight to the point were I have to install the engine then the headers?

I,m just curios as to why that you had to dimple your headers? It took me 2 hours to install and i didn't have to Dimple on header tube:confused: .I didn't have any problems with the bolts starting and used every header bolt that came with the headers
I don't know if it will be easier to install the headers first or not ! I had to install the headers from the bottom anyway....thank god for that slip tube on #8:D
