I recently bought a 94 LT1 Camaro that has 60k miles on it as of now. The only performance mods I have done are intake and catback.
If I press on the gas all the way and go up to red line, about one quarter of the time the car seems to accelerate normally. The other three quarters of the time the car seems to "let of the gas a bit" the last one thousand RPM before it hits red line. Its almost like Im taking my foot off the pedal just a little bit. Also there seems to be power loss at around 2k rpm sometimes even when I dont floor it. Its like that infamous LT1 torque doesnt want to show up for work sometimes. Lately Ive also been smelling gasoline when I drive with my window down.
I dont know if any tune ups have been done to this car like wires and plugs. The only thing I know that has been replace was the fuel filter half a year ago when I bought the car. Ive also used fuel injector/fuel system cleaners about 4 times since I bought the car and I vary the type of gasoline grade I use. Im wondering, could the fuel filter have clogged up prematurely? I really hope its not the fuel pump since the miles are pretty low on this car and it seems to have been taken care of pretty well before I bought it.
Can someone point me in the right direction on what I should start checking?
