I think that its the oil pressure sending unit..but...anyway, I have a 3.4 and right above the oil filter is a white thick round THING, that comes out of the little housing where the oil filter goes. It connected by a wire that runs to god only know where. Anyway, I was working on my car and I accidentally snapped it off. So I thought, no biggie, just pushed it back on, well, needless to say, I fired the car up, let it warm up and revved the engine some because of what I was doing, and splash, oil all over the place, just gushing out. Anyway, how hard it it to replace this, what the heck is it called and about how much will it cost?...Thanks guys!

I'm pretty sure it's for your oil gauge (sending unit), I've wondered myself.
Oh yeah, don't drive your car anywhere! :D

You should be able to fix it yourself.......just need a wrench or two.
See if autozone has it, if not, bend over (just a little :) ), and stop by Chevy and get one.

It is. They are relatively cheap. The oil pressure sending unit will screw into the oil filter adapter (where the oil filter goes on). There is a round heat shield boot that slides over the electrical connector. You will be able to pull the off of the connector, but that doesn't mean it has to be replaced. If you oil gauge is not working, you will need a new sending unit. If everything is working fine, simply slip the heat shield back over the electrical connector and be on your way.
Edit: Sorry, didn't read the entire first post...it is the oil sending unit that you broke. They are cheap and can be found at Autozone.
