i wanna lose the a.b.s..

it was possible to order a 4th gen camaro without abs right? ive searched on here and found people who have done it by cutting and flaring lines. i was wondering if i can just find a junkyard setup with no abs and just use that. has anyone done it? or would it present other problems.

Pretty sure ABS was standard on the 4th Gens.

I think some 3rd gen master cylinders will work as a cheap alternative to an aftermarket master with a proportioning valve. Not sure which models people usually use that didn't have ABS.

My 1995 'Bird had the ABS deleted. The previous owner made the mod, but it appears that he simply plumbed in a proportioning valve where the ABS module used to be. Here are a couple of pictures:

Remember, if you do this, it will kick on the ABS InOp light in the dash. The car might not pass inspection with this light on - I think that requirements vary by state. This car did indeed pass inspection in PA, FWIW.

there are some kits available to deleet the ABS module and tricks to delet the abs inop light, well the easiest one just taking out the light walaaa,,,,, this kits have the option to install a linelock and come complete just to plug and play! cant remember the name though

I did a 97 with the (sjm) kit. It was OK till I started to mod the rear brake line feed. That tube is a metric size. The tool supplied with the ABS delete kit did not work very good (tube slips in tool) on this tube (almost 1/4" dia) and it was very difficult to put a 45* double flair. I ended up buying a quality flair tool. Also, the fittings supplied with the kit did not fit the rear master cylinder @ exit point. Sjm supplied a fine thread but it is a course thread fitting (so, check the cylinder fitting thread first before assy). I re-used the old MC fitting and made another line. Also, I ended up purchase of additional brake line (real American 1/4" tube) to finish the job. I had a rough time of it, but, some say it goes easy. AT least I got an education. There are all types of brake line tube sizes. Check it out @ your local auto parrts store. Hope this helps. B.

I hate ABS, I've have an accident thanks to ABS, why do they think a system that prevents your car from stopping ASAP is so great? :rolleyes:

cool thanks for your reponses guys. im gonna look more into this 3rd gen swap thing. i have a 3rd gen also so ill check that out when its light out. anyone know more about a 3rd gen master in a 4th gen?
