Lower it ? or Leave it alone!
I did do a search on the topic and I originally thought I would buy some lowering springs. After the search, alot of the info I read kind of made me think twice before just going out and getting springs.(vogland is what I was thinking about). I want that lower look but at what cost does it come. I really didn't want to spend $600.00 for that look, my whole point was basically what could I do for a couple hundered buck's for appearance. I don't want to sacrifice any of the charectaristics of a stock set up if I'm only going to make it worse. I'm trying to improve it. My car only has 40K so the stock sh*t is still OK. Should I lower it? would I regret it? Would it cause the shocks to prematurely need replaced? Am I better off just letting it alone?
If you don't want to spend the money to do it correctly, I would just leave it alone. To do it right, your talking springs, shocks, adj. PHR, front end alignment. $600 probably wouldn't even cover it.
Edit, and plus the fact your pinion angle will be off and a adj. TA would be needed, plus a set of relocation brackets for your control arms. Might as well through a new set of those on the car too (control arms) while you are at it.

Yeah, the only reason I don't want to spend that kind of money on suspension right now is if I'm gettin up in that price range, I'm putting it in the motor. I've been wanting a LE or AI set of heads and cam and it is alot harder for me to come up with $3000.00 extra bucks. I can't see me spending a grand on suspension, that is about 1/3 of what I need to do what I really want. Someone needs to show me how to plant a money tree I guess.
All the parts mentioned, plus more, where done before I bought the heads and cam. But I have been slowly working on this car since bought new back in late 93.
Every time I went to the store to pick up one of those money trees, they where always sold out before I got there.

The Edelbrock LCA's aren't any good? show's you what I know, I thought they were Ok. I got my car in late 95 so I guess I still have a couple of years to catch up. I would be happy with N/A high 11's, THat's the dirrection i wanna go.
Don't slam the thing down to the ground and you'll be fine with just shocks and springs. I wouldn't cheap out on the shocks though, that's where most of my money went. Besides, i don't think $600 will cover it all even if you cheaped out on stuff. And you don't want cheap stuff under your car, it's not fun. You could just do springs, but the stock shocks won't handle it well and they won't last long.
I started with Koni SA's, strano springs and a UMI adj phb and ran that all last summer. I bought some LCA's this winter to go on next spring to try and cure the wheel hop. IMO to start you dont need the adj torque arm or relocs, or control arms if you are just wanting the lowered look....
No, I have no intention of slamming it, I was thinking 1" or 1.5" I don't want to have wheel hop problems(I don't have them at all right now). At what point do you get wheel hop issues anyway? Just wondering. Yeah, I don't want to cheap out on anything, However i am interested in functional budgeting. I guess for people to fully understand my intensions I should let you know what my goals are. 1. want to go fast 2. want to look good doing it. 3. I don't want a drag car. 4. It doesn't have to be the fastest( just quicker than the guy in the other lane). I want straight line performance, but it doesn't hurt to do twisties once in awhile with a decent suspension. A straight line performer with other atributes.
Why don't you talk to Sam Strano and just get some 1 to 1 1/4 inch drop springs for now. That would be a good start.

And I might mention, I never did put shocks on with my Eibach Pros. Didn't know any better and don't want to change things now.
If you on a budget lowering the car is going to be tough, especially since if you do it its only going to cost you more(lca brackets, adj panhard, etc). Talk to sam strano, after a 20min fone conversation you understand much more. Shocks are very important in a f bodies suspension so buy with extensive research.
don't do it, looks nice but it only takes one wrong speed bump or pot hole and you can add $500.00 to repaint the bottom of your nose and blend it. does it look nice hell yeah, but I can tell ya I lowered my 97 SS and my 96 ws6 of which I sold and now have a 94Z which will never be lowered and I allready have a adjustable, torque arm, panhard bar and relocation brackets on it when I bought it so most of the big money was spent by someone else and I still won't. many times I had issues with both cars getting them on ramps or lifts to get work done. not again
thanks, I'm happy to hear someone speaking from experience. I will more than likely take your advise. I need to save the cash for a set of heads and cam anyway. It was one of those quick idea's that sounded good at the time, until I really thought about it.
I think most people's dislike is because they choose the wrong springs (too short and not a good spring rate). If you do it, go with one of the taller springs. I had a ~1.5" drop and raised it up to a 1" drop with some different springs. Its amazing what a half inch more clearance will do.
Then a eibach pro kit should go on and I won't have any problems. I was only looking for a 1 to 1.5" drop. Just a little more than stock. I didn't want to do it if it was going to cause me more problems than what it is worth.
