A while back, I thought someone started a special thread for diagnostic trouble codes. If this does exist, can someone tell me how to find it? If not, I need some help with a code: P0430. Can someone tell me what this code is and what it might take to get the problem resolved? Thanks!

P0430 is a cat inefficiency code (passenger side). You can look it up at gearchatter.com If the stock cat is bad remember it's under warranty for 10yrs/120K.

Cats were already replaced under warranty at 72k. Now I'm at 129k....so I won't get another warranty job. Thanks for the gearchatter lead, I'll check it out.

Does anyone know if a new set of cats can be acquired from anywhere besides a dealership and how much they cost?

I'm sure you can get them locally from a parts store. You can also get them from places like gmpartsdirect, but you'll have to pay shipping/handling.

Looked up the PNs on gmpartsdirect, they're expensive and have a $45 core charge listed for some reason.

LH 12562397 GM list $443/$322 from them
RH 12562398 GM list $456/$332 from them

what is this LH/RH stuff? I thought it was all ONE unit - both sides.

Are you sure its the cat, and not the sensor that has the problem? Swap the after-cat sensors side to side. If the problem/code stays on the same side, its a cat or a wiring problem. If the code follows the sensor to the other side, its an O2 sensor problem.

It's funny you ask that because the SES light went out on its own earlier today and someone told me that it might be the o2 sensor(s) on that side. What do you think?
