My buddy's V6 run

Tonight at the local track my buddy ran 15.967@86.09. That was his 2nd run, his 1st run was 16.623@84.32. And his previous best time was 16.109@85.67. His car (96 Firebird, 3.8 liter v6) has the following mods:
conical air filter added to the stock intake, 160 thermostat, B&M shift plus. We also dropped the rear tire pressure down to 24psi. Everything else on the car is stock. Are there free or cheap mods we can do to drop another few tenths to maybe pull a 15.7 or 15.5.

15.9 is a good time stock. My 99 ran 16.2 stock, of course that was in hot humid weather. I added the SLP CAI and ran a 16.0, then the Whisper Lid and ran a 15.7 @ best in cool weather. As far as free mods go, they were completely useless for me. I cut off the fins on my air box and did the free ram air and niether worked for me.

I also forgot to add the car's rear gears are 3.08. He knows those will have to be changed but they'll have to do for now.

Yes last night was OSW... I acted as his pit crew.. I iced his plenum and tb and I even iced his plastic intake and conical filter. I took care of all tire pressure ect... It was awsome to see him pull that 15.9 because his whole goal was to break into the 15's before he sprayed and did serious mods so he had a good baseline. I am very impressed. Last night was not busy at all. He got two good runs in... Could have had more, but we were home by 8:30.... What I liked was most civis were running 16's and 17's.... Only a few imports really running decent that night so he would have held hi own against 90 percent of all rice...

yeah that place can get like that.... I have seen cars in the 18s and 19s... there are ome imports in the 14s, a bit mroe in the 15s, but most are 16s and higher.

Any chance you are going this friday? I think I am going to make it out there, I was planing on going to gainesvill but there is some talk of possible rain, and I plan on goig ot a party tomorrow night around 11 so its better to stay local, friday night supposed to be the coldest night of the next week so maybe I will get some times.
