CAI vs Modded Stock Induction

Hey,

Which would be better? A hi-flow lid for the stock airbox, along with K&N filter, and ram air or a CAI that just completely bypasses all of that? What companies make CAI for 99 Camaro 3.8L? Any links to sites would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

On your car, the only intake modifications you can do is the Hi-Flow Whisper Lid and the CAI (which is the metal scoop).

98-02 V6 and V8 cars can only do the lid mod, there are no CAIs (such as the Moroso or K&N FIPK) available to my knowledge.

Ahh, so there's no standard "CAI" for the Camaro...everything runs through the airbox (either naturally, or with more forced in). I guess the best option is to go with the metal "ram air" that sits by the radiator, and directs air up into the airbox. I've read about problems with water splashing up inside of it; any specific problems with this?

Any other major concerns? I think I'll get the "ram air" kit, and put a hi-flow whisper lid on - should help quite a bit (already have the K&N filter on).

I should see faster throttle response time, but probably not a lot of HP gains, right?

right!

and i have the cai and have no problems with water whatsoever. i dont think its that much of a concern. in theory yes, but i have never heard of anyone getting water in thier motor by it in the last 2 years.

You don't need to worry about that. Just take a look underneath the hood of a LT1 Ram Air and ask if they have had any problems with water.
