Will a Coolant Flush Get Rid of the Low Coolant Light?

My low coolant light comes on after about an hour of running, the coolant is not low but its the case of the dirty coolant sensor.

Will a coolant flush fix the problem, or does the coolant sensor need to be replaced?

Good question. I would like to know too as my low coolant light is always on despite coolant level being full!

I doubt just a coolant flush will clean the sensor enough. I'm on my third sensor. Once the light comes on, I have just replaced the sensor. Some have tried cleaning the old sensor will some sucess though.

I just did a full flush and coolant change and my light is still on.
Just unplug it and the light goes away with no other ill effects.

I've had this happen on both my 87 Vette and my 97 Camaro. After cleaning and flushing the coolant system, the sensor has gone back to normal,(started working, light off). Unfortunately it only lasted a few months and the light came back on again.

I would just replace the sensor, it is probably just gummed up.

Won't hurt to pull the sensor out and try and clean it. If that doesn't work, get a new one, or simply unplug it, as suggested above.

I just got a new waterpump (rebuilt) for my 98 LS1 and this is happening and it has all new coolant. I wasn't sure if I got handed a bad sensor or what, may grab a new one anyway.

Bahh Unplug the sensor. It doesn't do anything but drive the light. Just check the coolant level every once in while.

I unplugged my sensor about two years ago after my light stayed on even though I had full coolant levels. No issues whatsoever.

I've heard the sensor not only indicates the level but the mixture of coolant/water turning the light on as well as when it's low, is this true?

Only a level sensor.
