Built 4L60E maybe toast??? Feels like I'm towing a boat in OD???

About 2 years ago, I purchased a "fully built" 4L60E from a company called MegaMaxTrannys. I ordered their Xstreme Street/Strip 4L60E, was suppose to be their beefiest one, he warrantied it for 700hp for 1yr.

I can't find the build sheet, but I'll list the specs as best I can from memory (i'm not very knowledgeable w/transmissions) so I will most likely butcher some of these mods:

-Beast Sun Shell
-10-vane pump
-Ported sun gears (for more lubrication)
-Billet Servos (not the corvette ones, nice aftermarket units, do not remember brand name)
-Lengthened servo pins
-Kevlar bands
-Raybestos Z-pack
-etc...

That's all I can remember for now, it also came with a new 2000stall converter. I will go look up exact miles in the morning, this tranny has approximately 12,000 miles on it.

This transmission has ran flawless its entire life; no signs of slipping. It has had B&M Trick Shift ran in it, it's entire life. Tonight, I was out making adjustments for the larger jet I just placed in my Water/Meth injection, and I'm cruising at about 60 in OD lift throttle and all of sudden if feels like I'm towing a boat, or the e-brake is slightly on. I at first think "crap...water/meth is still injecting, maybe I'm getting fuel quench"....but O2's are reading properly, and no sign of fuel quench. I come to a stop, look things over...don't see anything. Start driving, feels fine from a stop, get going again put it in OD revs do NOT change and it feels like I"m towing a boat again. I shift it into Drive and it drives normal. I come home check fluid, it appears to be fine (it's night out)...it's close to being perfect level, and doesn't smell burnt.

It's night out, I'm tired...and this Friday the 13th hasn't been kind...I'm cutting my losses and will jack up the car in the morning and look at stuff more closely.

Any idea what this could be? Is it the first sign of doom? I've killed 3 trannies in the past via burnt clutches, and have never felt this happen before.

Any tips on what to look for when I dig into it tomorrow?

Thanks for the help in advance,
-Andrew

Also, if this thing does need to be torn into (rebuilt)...where/who should I take it to? I'm pretty sure MegaMax has since gone out of business.

I've been looking at the supporting vendors products, and they are very well priced. However, I don't want to just replace this tranny with another fully built one. Seems, in the proper hands my current one could be refreshed. Probably impossible to get a price estimate for until the problem is diagnosed.

hmm...

The "towing a boat" feeling sounds like a tie up. This means something is applied when it's not supposed to be.
It sounds as though your input sprag may be locked up. The sprag has to freewheel in O/D.

As for "who to take it to", you can check us out here.

I would agree that it sounds like you have have rolled over or locked down the input sprag. As Frank above says it has to freewheel when you shift to 4th gears if not it will be the forward clucthes verse the BAND and 3-4 CLUTCH, do not allow it to shift to overdrive any more like that as you will burn clutches and do damage. And from your description of the fluid it sounds like the tranny may overall still be in pretty good shape. We dont to refresh/rebuilds but only sell complete units. In your case it would be likley more economically feasable to have it refreshed/repaired. either by a reputable local builder or as mentioned send it to Frank for this service.
Its does not sound like theres any major damage.out side of the likley input sprag, But again dont contimue letting it shift to 4th untill you have this addressed or you will do substaintial damage.

Well, that makes sense to me. I'll "attempt" to find a reputable place locally; however, if I fail to find anyone (like normal)...Frank, I'll probably be giving you a call.

Thanks for the expert advice guys!
