Poly tranny mount with or without the plate ???

I ve search a lot and came with a lot of different answer.Since they dont make poly tranny mount for the 4th gen ,everyone is using the 3rd gen one:

This mount come with a upper plate that you place between the tranny and the mount itself.

A lot of member wrote that with the plate installed the vibration was really bad and when they took it off and re-install the poly mount alone, the vibration disapear.

A couple of member also wrote that since it was design like that,that you need to install the plate absolutely...

So whats the verdict on this:

There's not really much debate about this. You CANNOT use the plate on a 4th gen, or it'll vibrate the fillings out of your teeth. We get posts and calls constantly about vibrations after installing the ES mount. The cure is always to remove the plate. Yes, it'll still vibrate more than rubber, but atleast you won't break one every 5000 miles.

A lot of people use the plate and think that the plate has is own utility,wich one i dont know but its not there for nothing.

i agree with what injuneer said.. This was one of the best things i've done for my car. No vibrations, no more missed gears due to high revs and the trans bein shifted. The whole car feels so much more solid with it. I have no complaints.

I've got an ES poly mount, and regardless of with or without the plate, it causes unbearable vibrations in my car :rolleyes:. BUT, I have the factory steel driveshaft (which I plan on taking in to have balanced this winter) and they're notorious for causing more noticable vibrations than if you have an aluminum DS.

I have the stock drive shaft as well... i've had my car up to 120mph with it and it still doesnt have any vibrations that arent expected out of a car doing 120mph.

The vibrations I'm talking about occur at MUCH slower speeds than ~120 mph!! ;) (I've had my car up there a few times too, and I don't find it all that bad).

It just seemed that with the poly mount, there were a couple "critical speeds" that the vibrations would just start to shake the whole car violently almost :think:. While it is 100% worse with the poly mount, and 100% better with the stock mount, I'm NOT 100% sure it is in fact the driveshaft though? :shrug: (it almost seems like it may be exhaust related, if that's even possible?? :confused: )

take that hunk of metal and throw it in teh garbage

ive had the plate in and teh vibrations upon accelleration were pretty bad. Took the plate out and they were gone

can someone please describe these vibrations? i have none whatsoever.. acceleration, slow speed, high speed... parked... slowing.. nothing. Am I just lucky with my peticular mount?

Just put in mine yesterday, the ES one. I ran the plate like recommended.

I notice more vibration. Looking up on LS1tech, people there think it's that the pinion angle is changed. From my experimenting, it seems to be emanating because the exhaust is hung off of the mount.

I get the same vibration revving it slowly in nuetral that I do driving the thing. Clutching it in at 100 mph immediately stops the vibration.

Is there anyway to insulate the exhaust hanger more?

the ES poly mount is higher than the stock one and doesnt compress like the rubber mount. So when u pu tthe weight of the tranny on it, it will sit higher than stock and adding the plate will make it worse. This is what throws ur pinion angle off and causes the vibrations.

Also im not sure of LS1 exhaust but the exhaust hangar is hung from that mount?

kinda feels like you need an alignment bad,your rotors are warped real bad, your tires are unbalanced all at the same time.I put one in a while ago with the plate and thought I screwed up my car because the vibrations. Im gonna have to try one without the plate .
