Anyone use type F tranny fluid instead of dextron

i have been told the type f makes it shift firmer and has more detergents in it.

i'd just stick with dex 3. it has enough cleaning agents in it already. a manual tranny doesn't even really need them that much, unline an auto tranny. Anything but dex 3 can cause wearing on the blocking ring faces and certain fluids will also leak from the trans. if it shifts firmer, it's probably a thicker fluid which can result in harder shifts in the cold as well. dex 3 is well rounded and doesn't give anybody an reason to complain, really. i wouldn't think it's worth it. a good shifter keeps my shifting happy.

I've used type f in my 95z A4 for about 5 years now without a problem. And yes it does shift a little harder.

We suggest Dexron III for all of our rebuilds.
