Titmium valves and the gains with it?

I was wondering if changing to titanium valves is really worth it... I mean they are more or less $75 a piece new for a total of ~$1200 in an upgrade...

Is it really worth it?

I am using chromed tiped stainless steel valves, swirled polished(I believe everybody uses this type of polishing).

Anyways.... Was wondering if it was worth the $ or better to go with some manley valves? & titanium retainers...

Thanks

unless you're turning over 8000 rpm they aren't worth the extra expense. The valve springs will live longer with titanium valves. Titanium valves will add approx 400 to 600 usable rpm before valve float. So unless your turning it and are using a very aggressive lobe design I'd stay with stainless valves and titanuim retainers. Titanuim exhaust valves will tulip easier if the exhaust temp to high. If you can afford them by all means use them but if your on a budget spend it somewhere else.

If you have a problem with the moderating, PLEASE follow the rules and take it up directly with the moderators by e-mail.... that would be Ken or me. I sort of considered "titanium valves" to be a little beyond routine, and the post does not appear to be "generation" or "engine specific, so in my humble opinion, it fits. All this stuff is "subjective".

If you disagee, or just generally want to bitch and make wise a$$ comments, please do it by e-mail. I can assure you, Chris and Jason will stand 100% behind us on this requirement.

Thank you.
