adapting Ls1 rods to an F2T engine.

Hello guys.. i have a ford proble 89.

I was wanting to know the limits for having a thicker bearing on a crankshaft. I would like to adapt a set of rods from an ls1 (eagle) to the F2T mazda engine so it can widstand the power and/or revs.

THe main journal of the ls1 rod is ~0.100 bigger than the stock rod.... can it be adapted to get around 450whp out of a 2.3L i4 engine?

I am assuming that you have a set of eagle LS1 rods or you would'nt be asking this question. You could get a bearing with a thicker backing but I think there is a lot more to making this thing work. How does the F2T ?rod compare to the LS1. Is the big end width the same? Pin bore diameter? How about the length? Are they press fit or bushed end rods? etc. etc. Those are just a few of the things to consider.

It's a 2.000 Rod Journal.... Look at a Small Journal SBC Rod to start with.

Then you have to look at pin size, Big end width and lenth etc....

You probably have custom pistons here too so the length can vary to a point.

You have the rods out of the motor? That would be the best thing for a engine guy to look at, figure out what's close and can be modified to fit and go from there.

Anyways WTF are you going to do to that motor anyways?

BTW MAIN Journal is part of the block, you have a BIG end and a SMALL end of a connecting rod.

well i want it to do around 450-500rwhp out of a 2.3L :D

both rods are out of the engine... lenths are very similar...

Ok so get us those measurements or send one up to get measured.

i can get you those measurements with my micrometer... let me know what exactly you need to compare them?

btw bret i am almost ready to charge that debt from the pushrods... i will finally get that damper ready and installed and i can measure the pushrod length.

Just get the measurements that we asked for before.
