Will I have to ditch my Delteq?

Ok I think I have made up my mind. I'm going to pick up a spare block and build it for 2006. But for this year, I wanna slap a procharger on the old formy, and have fun with it for what its worth and slap a 12 bolt in her.

It looks like with most power adders you have to retard the timing, and I dont know of a way of doing with the delteq (you cant right?). Or can I get away with keeping the delteq, but getting the cumbustion chambers worked so I can drop compression down, plus a thicker head gasket?

Let me know what ya guys think.

Mike

I'm not following. Why can't you take it out in the computer? The Delteq has no effect on the ECM.

Oh I thought it was best to run somthing like a MSD box or somthing along the lines of that to retard the timing. I didn't know you could make the pcm retard the timing constantly at WOT.

So is it worth having some meat taken off the combustion chambers to drop some compression?

Thanks,
Mike

You can either take out timing through programming or use the MSD DIS-4

A smart spark should work also.

I don't even know if these are still available though.

Mine has been very handy, much quicker than reprogramming with a laptop and you can change the timing anytime, anywhere.

I'm not the expert that a lot of these other guys are, and I can't speak to your Delteq question; BUT...

The LAST thing I'd want to do, especially on a boosted engine, is increase the head gasket thickness.

Increasing the gasket thickness will also increase your piston/head clearence in your quench area. I'm in the Smokey Yunick school of thought that says that the best way to avoid detonation is a nice, tight quench area.

Thats my story and I'm stickin' to it!
