Best Datalogging for air/fuel on ODBI
I am trying to find out what is the best software (Cheap) out there for getting Air/fuel Ratio on an OBDI car. Is it this DataMaster(haw much is it)? I have FreeScan but the Air/Feul ratio does not work in it. Should I just get an Air/Fuel gauge? What is the best, most cost effective, accurate way of doing this? Thanks in advance.
There is no point in getting AFR data out - unless you are interested in part-throttle cruise. The stock O2's are completely inaccurate outside 14.7:1. Basicallly, all they can tell you is if you are richer than 14.7, or leaner. They are certainly useless at WOT. All those A/F gauges you see are based upon narrowband O2's and are thus worthless, IMO.
What you need is a wideband O2 sensor. There is a diy project at diy-efi.org. I've read about it but don't have any url's handy. Hopefully someone can chime in. The most expensive part of this setup is the WB O2, ~$120 IIRC.
Datamaster is the best OBD-I logging software. I use it and it does not output afr data.
