Ac problems too

Hey my compressor sounds like it is leaking either from the front of the pulley or the hi/low valves.. Is there like a needle valve in there like valve stems and can be replaced or is it a blown seal in the compressor? Every year have to fill it up, it only lasted three months this year thou.. when I turned it on at the beginning of the year it wouldn't even kick the compressor over until I got two cans in it. Help? Don't have any real guages just the low side... Do you have to have both the high and low guauges?

both gauges are good but if your carefull you can charge with just the low side. I would put a full charge on the system and then using a spray bottle with soapy water check for leaks. chances are it;s the front seal of the compressor though

Re: Ac problems too

like a pshhhh, when the clutch stops the pulley from spining? Even with the vehicle off, makes very slow hissing noise, I should get some soapy water and drench the whole compressor and will it blow bubbles out of the front of the pulley if that is where the seal has gone bad? All I have to do is replace compressor, add oiled refrigerant, back up to normal operating pressures.. and done? It has already been converted...

if it was leaking enough to hear it then it would be empty within a day or 2. your probably having a small leak and the noise your heaing is the pressure equalizing in the drier. thats normal. yeah. soap it all up and see if you see a bunch of bubbles coming out. I would also do that to the low and high side ports (they tend to leak)

Do those ports have valves in them like valve stems on my tires? little things I can unscrew and replace the o rings on? That is where it sounds like the noise is coming from. or the back of the compressor.. does the low side make the high side? guess what I am asking is if next year If I replace the compressor and the o rings in the ports, can I just fill it back up with oiled refrigerant?
