Question approximately how much $$

Am I looking at to get a muffler installed?...I am just going with the muffler (loudmouth or flowmaster)and forgetting the exhaust since all pipes/tips seem to rust anyways...And saving the money for tires, which will be for a while because to upgrade them to 17's or 18's the new wheels/rims will cost around $1000 (on average right?)...

Re: approximately how much $$

If you have the muffler, labor cost is around 30-50 dollars... As far as tires/wheels combo... Costs can start around 900 and go up....

Re: approximately how much $$

Thanks, I was thinking it was going to be around 100 bucks...When i get new tires I'll try to look for the 'combo' deal , with the tires and wheels together...Itd be simpler that way.

I wanted to know something else, a little off topic....Could I just buy new tips for the exhaust instead of getting the whole exhaust system, or would that just be stupid(money wise)?

Re: approximately how much $$

as far as i know the loudmouth isn't a muffler...it is a whole system, all the pipes.
and not to worry about rust, it's stainless. and most decent systems are either aluminized or stainless. i've got a magnaflow and it hasn't started deteriorating.

and most rims/tires combos that i see, least that are decent looking are $1500 or more.
rims alone are $1000 usually

I also live in SA, TX. I went to one of those places that "no habla ingles por nada"

And I think somehow the cost of the install go lost in translation, and I got away with out paying a dime.

Re: approximately how much $$

Thanks for all the responses ...One more quick questions...The Flowmaster says that it increases gas mileage and provides better airflow if you buy the whole system and not just the muffler. I dont see how that could be true if the rest of the system is just the flowmaster pipes, I thought the muffler was the main piece of the whole exhaust.

Has this gas mileage thing been proven? Doesnt seem too real to me.

Re: approximately how much $$

do yourself a favor. I took my stock muffler of and cut the top out. then I went and got some new sheetmetal and tack welded it in place. Then I put muffler mender over the seams. Then I put high temp paint on the seems for extra protection. It sounds mean as heck. and all for about 25 bucks.
