Question Will clay bar work or do I need something else?

I am planning to go buy some detailing supplies to see if it will help my car any. The previous owner did not take very good care of it. I just wanted to knwo what I need. The first pic is kinda of grainy, but the white specs and stuff like that are what I want to get rid of. Do I need claybar, Scratch X, Color X or do I have to get it repainted?

This next pic are from what I believe was bird stuff left on there way tooo long. Don't know if you can see it too good, but it's the best pic I can get

What do I need? Thanks!

You will need a clearcoat polishing compound to work on the bird bomb spots and the rain marks up front. Take your time with the bird bomb and work it in gradually.

For future reference, especially with black cars, carry a spray bottle of water with you, because you will often get bird attacks (that is, if there are a lot of them where you live).

You can pick up dupont polishing compound for clearcoats from most auto supply stores. 3m also makes a few equivalent products (but make sure all of them are clearcoat safe).

PS: First try a buff paint cleaner on the rain spots at the front nose (a #1 of a 3 step wax system), this may be enough to lift the water spots.

the front looks like a bunch of stone chips etc. and the other pic appears that the clear coat is failing. Of course its hard to tell through a pic but it looks like repaint time to me.

Well I claybared it and used some color x. No go on anything. Didn't do a damn thing. Not even on light scratches or anything. It was Mother's clay bar kit too by the way. Washed the car with dawn first then went over with a claybar. A lot of work and no results Thanks for the help though!!!

skip the clay and go to the compound and buffing cleaner. You want real results.

So which will go on first or both that lbls1 just mentioned the same concept? One rougher then the other? Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.

For the birdbomb, I'd skip right to the chase and put on the polishing compound. If you see results, follow up with the paint buff cleaner.

Now, if for some reason this does not work, you may need to wetsand that particular area. Judging from the pics, I don't think its at that level. Birdbombs are lethal, but they can be worked out with a bit of dilligence. BTW, a little secret. Birdbomb shadows will eventually go away......the mild ones anyway. The acid in the bomb looked like it worked through some of the clear layers. I think the polishing compound (for clearcoats) will help. Let me know how you do.
