Clutch install re: disconnect master cyclinder?

I'm doing my first clutch job on a 93 z28. Installuniversity didn't mention anything about removing the pedal to cylinder rod, but the haynes manual does. I'd rather not, obviously, so I was just going to pull the clutch release cylinder. Any reason why I should pull the pedal to m. cylinder rod? Also, when I pulled off the shift lever assembly, it was empty inside - no fluid. Uh.. That's normal... right? Thanks!

Nate.

All you need to do is unbolt the slave cylinder from the side of the bell housing and remove it. That's it.

Fluid level in the tranny is below the point where the shift lever ball fits into the hole on the end of the rail. There should have been a nylon cup in the hole for "lubrication". Be sure to save that cup and reinstall it.

Thanks! I should have the tranny out tonight. The nylon cup is there, so I feel better!
