IAC Question
Hi Guys,
I removed my IAC to determine if I had a problem with it, cleaned it, shorted my A and B circuit and plugged the IAC in. When I turned the key that pintle shot out half way across my yard.
I know I should've had something in front of it to check for movement but is it supposed to fly out of the housing?
Thanks for any help.

Yeah, that's happened to a few people who've tried that test. If you're going to clean the IAC, I'd recommend taking the throttle body off and cleaning it out as well. Take the air foil out if you have one and clean behind that as well.
Once you've put the IAC lever and spring back together and screwed it so they're both as compressed as possible, simply put the throttle body and IAC back on the car. Turn the key to ON but don't don't start the car. Wait about 4 seconds and you'll hear the IAC go "plunk." When it does that you'll know that it's adjusted itself back to where it should be.
