ZR1's on ebay, question on these!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43957

This lists as fitting the 84-87 Corvette and 93-02 Firebird and Trans Am, but it says that it will not fit the Camaro....am I missing something here??? Why would it fit the Firebird but not the Camaro???

Any help is appreciated...thanks.

56 mm of the correct offset for f bodies
Maybe the Firebird has wider fenders so they will fit
You could post this in the wheels forum

oopsie...this is my first ever question on any wheel so I didn't even know there was one..sorry

Yeah, I guess I didn't even bother looking at the offset, just saw that and wondered why.

I run the 36.5mm backspacing on my black 17 X 11 ZR1s on my 94 Trans Am. You can only use the 36.5 backspacing on firebirds/formulas/trans ams. They WILL NOT work with camaros. That seems like one hell of a deal that guy has going there. Good luck

Yeah, then that offset would not work for you. damn, for some reason my brain escaped me and I thought you had a trans am. Oh well, keep an eye out there on Ebay.
I got my wheels on there for a crazy deal.
2 17 X 9.5 black ZR1s with 38mm backspacing
2 17 X 11 black ZR1s with 36.5 backspacing

for 395 dollars plus 75 dollars shipping for a grand total of 470 bucks.

You want the 56mm offset, the 36mm sticks the wheels out to far and in my opinion looks funny.

Re: ZR1's on ebay, question on these!!

The question of why the 36.5mm offset (not back spacing) is recommended for the TA's and not the Camaros appears to have been around for years. I have not been able to find any difference in the wheel wells or fender lines, comparing my Formula directly to the Camaro. I doubt there is any difference between a TA and a Formula in this respect. If you go to virtually any aftermarket wheel site, they will tell you that 17" wheels can not be used on 4th Gen convertibles... but again, directly comparing the wheel wells on a 30th SS convertible with the GS offset 17x11's, and the same wheels on my Formula coupe, there were no measurable differences in the wheel wells, the fnder lines or the way they looked.

About a year ago, on the "Appearance" forum, people posted pictures of TA's and Formulas with both the 36.5mm offset and the 50mm (not 56mm) offset 17x11's. The general consensus was that the 36.5's stuck out too far, and that the 50's looked better.

I believe the 30th SS convertible had 16" wheels from the factory that were styled like the ZR1's.

You are correct. The factory limited the SS and WS6 convertible wheels to 16" because of concerns over ride quality.

The 30th SS convertible I worked on had a replacement set of genuine GM factory Corvette Grand Sport wheels, 17x9.5" 56mm front, 17x11 50mm rear, repainted white to look like the original Anniv. SS wheels. And there was absolutely no difference in the way they fit on his car, compared to my Formula.... if anything, he had less issues than I had, but I think my 12-bolt might be a tad narrower than stock. When we started hammering on the car to fit huge slicks, it was obvious there was some extra sheetmetal reinforcing behind the fender liners at the subframes, but there were no difference in the wheel wells.

I've been wondering this same thing. I have the 17X11s in the rear now, and 17X9.5 in the front. I bent a front wheel, so the fronts are going to be replaced.

I've never been satisfied with my look. The rears (50mm offset) sit perfect it the edge of the rear fender, but the fronts sit in way too far. I've even added a 1/4" spacer in the front, and it's still in too far.

Would the 36mm or 38mm 17X9.5 wheels sit flush with the top of the front fenders?
