z06 wheels on 2001 Z

im looking to get some new style Z06 wheels (2006) and i need some advice. i want 17'' rims in the front and 18'' in the back with 245 40 17 and 275 35 18 tires. will this affect my speedometer at all? also is there anything else i should know before i get they?

also should i go with the 275 35 18 tires in the back or the 275 40 18?

btw i currently have the stock 16's

search corvetteforum.com and you will probably find a set of OEM Z06 wheels for a decent price. They will be 17 in the front (265/40-17 ), 18 in the rear (295/35-18) but will fit fine (once part of the rear bump stop is removed) It didn't affect my speedometer.

You want to match the STOCK tire diameters. Did your car come with the 235/55-16's (26.1") or the 245/50-16 Z-rated tires (25.7")? That will determine what size tires you need to avoid recalibrating the speedometer. Recalibrating no big deal, just a minor PCM tweek.

A 245/40-17 is way too small at 24.7". You would want a 245/45-17 at 25.7" or a 255/45-17 at 26.0". But the 245/45-17 size tire is typically not recommended on a wheel more than 9.0" wide. That leaves you with the 255/45-17 which fits on wheels up to 9.5" wide.

A 265/40-17 (25.3") and also a bit too small in diameter. The next step up would be the 275/40-17 at 25.7".

In the back, 275/35-18 is a bit small at 25.6", and OK for a max wheel width of 11.0". A better choice would be a 285/35-18 at 25.8". The 305/30-18 at 25.2" is also too small a diameter. The 295/35-18 is 26.1" and would work.

will the 275 rear tires have enough clearence in the wheel well? just by eye balling it, it looks like they'll barely fit. i know the ss has 275 tires and i just need to know if the 275's will fit my z

I just put C6 Z06 replicas on mine fronts are 17x9.5 with 275/40/17's and the rears are 18x10.5 with 315/30/18. My rear wheels have 58mm backspacing and cleared ok, I added just a little more clearance to give me some added comfort, but i dont think it was necessary. Heres a pic but it's from a camera phone on a rainy day so it's not the greatest.

I don't have much power either but the 315's sure do look good on the rear lol..........the 275's will still look good and be much cheaper. when my 315's wear out I'll drop down to a 295 or 305 unless I find another good deal like I did on my Pirelli's.......Good Luck with whichever you decide

Why would you pick a 275/45-18? That's almost a 28" diameter tire. Will just fit in the wheel openings, and will raise the back end of your car about 1" higher than stock. Its going to have a "rake" like my Formula has with 28" slicks in the back, and 26" skinnies in the front:

that was a typo i meant to put 275 40 18
they are about 26.4'' in diameter so they are about 3/4'' more in diameter than stock, your right about 275 45 18 being to big.
