A Camaro with snow tires handles just fine in the snow. I prefer driving my car in the snow than driving my parents Impala in the snow. If youre going to put weight in the rear, only put about 100lbs or so, too much and like was mentioned before, youll get a hardcore pendulum effect. Also, about engine braking...its a good thing if you arent too abrubt with it and if you are in a straight line. Using it during a turn would be bad idea prolly.

Along the same lines as the original poster so I didnt feel like making a new thread would be a good idea. But I recently got a set of 16x8 stock Z/28 rims for my car for winter. What tires should I go with, I was gonna get the Blizzaks but they seem to be on the higher price end of things. I keep seeing high performance snow tires like on tirerack.com and such and I dont really think thats what I need. 215 x 65 x 16 is what I am thinking but what brands are good and what are worth steering clear of. $80 - $90 a tire would be preferable. Thanks!

Youre not going to need HIGH performance tires unless you actually plan on doing some hardcore driving on them during the winter. Otherwise just get some good 215/60-16 studless ice and snow tires. Personally I only have experience with Blizzaks but I plan on getting something cheaper next year when i need new winter tires. Winter tires suck for normal driving and IMO are HORRIBLE in the rain, but they rock when they are in snow so its a tradeoff. I cant see that much of a difference between different snow tires, but like i said, i only have experience with blizzaks.

As has been mentioned - 215/60-16 is the best size for winter tires for your Camaro. Like eagleknight97, I only have experience with Blizzaks. There are countless brands and styles available... note that tread designs are generally optimized for snow, snow&ice, or ice. Select the tire based on what you'll be driving in.

I once described the dry/wet handling of my Camaro with Blizzaks as being like a late-70's Cadillac - spooky! But it was great in snow & ice.

FiefSS, it's too bad you don't live closer to me. I've got a set of Camaro-appropriate Blizzaks with 80% tread that I'd sell ya real cheap - I have no use for them any more. Shipping cost from me to you would unfortunately make it not worth your while.
