Wheel and Tire Combo for 89 Camero Questions
I would like to put American Racing Torque Thrust style wheels on my 89 Camero.
16" on frount and 17" on rear. Will they fit??? If so what tire size?
Would I be better sticking with 16" or 17" all around? The car has bot been lowerd, but would like to at some point.
Thanks for your imput.

the torque thrust style wheels would look nice on your car !! stick with 17" wheels
on the front and back ....that way you can rotate your tires ! and other benefits
to avoid problems with wheel rub , bumps , headers , exhaust don't lower your car !!!
as for a tire choice I would run bfg's .... have you thought about some new 17or 18 " IROC wheels!!!

Re: Wheel and Tire Combo for 89 Camero Questions
Whether the wheels will fit will depend on the width of the wheels and the offset (which determines the backspace). The diameter is not an issue, because you need to select a tire width and aspect ratio that produces the same outside diameter as the stock tires on the car. It you don't do that, the speedometer calibration will need to be corrected and there may be negative effects on the handling.
Tire size depends on wheel width, so you have to pin the width down first, then select the tire size that fits correctly on that width.
The stock 3rd Gen wheels typically are 8.0" wide have a 0mm offset (4.35" BS) in the front, and a 16mm offset (5.0" BS) in the back.

16" tires are all but dead - very few choices out there.
Go 17" all around - actually 17" x 9.5" so you can fit a 275-40-17 tire.
CTW Motorsports makes a great 17" wheel that requires no spacers.
