wheel offset on a camaro

i want to know if there is a different offset on the 84' camaro wheels compared to a 2001 camaro wheel because i want to get these rims but i searched the net for the offset and it said the offset is +12mm but then i saw a picture of a camaro with them on here .....so can i fit them on my 2001 or not.....

Re: wheel offset on a camaro

What size wheels are you looking at - diameter and width? If you know the size (and you have to know the size to determine the correct offset/backspace) go to the link you posted for the wheels, click on the size you want, and look at the sizes and backspaces available. For example, a lot of people run a 17x9.5" wheel on all 4 corners, and they make that size wheel, with the Chevy 5x4.75" bolt circle, in a 7" bckspace (they call it "rear spacing"). That wheel would fit perfectly on your car.

Pick a size, then look at the backspace. For an 8" wide wheel, you want a 6.5" backspace. For a 9.0" or 9.5" wide wheel, look for a 7.00" backspace. For an 11" wide wheel (back only), look for a 7.75-7.93" backspace.

oh really....i thought that if the offset was in too far that the tire would stick out past the fenders too far. but if thats the case awseome.

Re: wheel offset on a camaro

Positive offset moves the wheel deeper into the wheel well as the offset increases.

Here's a couple of handy links detailing offset and backspace, found in the Wheel/Tire FAQ
