Re: Wheel Adapters?

you wouldnt need wheel adapters to run a wheel with the same bolt pattern

right, t hats not why i need them. i think that a simple slip on spacer will not be suficiant, i will need a larger adapter with the same patern to run these. just something that pushes them out further then a simple slip on spacer could do.

Re: Wheel Adapters?

you could always just get a wheel that fits properly, i dunno

theres reasons why my company is against use of spacers, adapters, and stud kits and such

Re: Wheel Adapters?

If you know the wheel size, backspacing, and offset of the wheels you want, post that info here and we can possibly tell you if you need spacers or not.

btw, I have used a set of 2.25" spacers on my old 86, and have a pair of 2" on my 88, don't need rear spacers since I have a 98 LS1 rear on my 88.

there stock y2k corvette wheels, 17x8.5 in the front which will fit, and then 18x9.5 out back which is were in gonna have some issues, i just got the car back today so im gonna fit it up and see what we got. im not 100% sure what the offsets are, but like i said, they are stock vette wheels so whatever that is...

Re: Wheel Adapters?

If the offset is THAT far off, I'd sell them and get some wheels that fit. There is NO problem fitting a properly offset 9.5" wheel on any 4th gen F-Body, much less an 8.5".

Re: Wheel Adapters?

My point is that I run 11" wheels on my car, and the worst I had to do was roll the lip in the rear. IF you have to bang anything to make those wheels fit, get some wheels that do. I don't care if other people have done it, you're mounting a wheel that has an offset that does not work on your car. It's one thing to use a 1/4" spacer, maybe a little larger. But if you have to go past that, something is wrong. And especially with a wheel width that, in the case of the front, is only 1/2" wider than the stock 16x8's.

yup, the fronts will fit no problem, and i shouldnt need more then 1/2 in or so, im just seeing if any one has used these type of adapters before.

Re: Wheel Adapters?

ok guys.... seems the difference in backspacking between the 2 wheels is 3/4 of an inch. i think if i spaced them out a full 3/4in they would stick out of the fenderwells alittle too far for my likeing. so... the bump stop is commin off and ill go from there.

any idea what size slip on spacer is safe? i kno some guys run these...

Re: Wheel Adapters?

My data shows the factory 2000 Corvette wheels, in 18x9.5" have a 65mm offset. That works out to about a 7.75" backspace. That puts them almost 1/4" further away from the inner fenders than the 17x11 50mm offset wheels that many of us run. You shouldn't have an interference problem with the inner fenders, unless you put a wider tire on the wheel than they can satisfactorily accept.

The wheel will sit a little deep in the wheel wells.... I've run 9.5" wide wheels with 49mm offsets and 56mm offsets, with 275 section width tires, and neither of them rubbed on anything. Your wheels will sit about 0.35" deeper in the wheel well than my 56mm offset wheels, and 0.63" deeper than the 49mm wheels.

As a point of reference, both front and rear wheels in these pictures are 17x9.5 49mmm offset:

I don't like slip-on spacers on rear wheels... at least not on a car that is driven or launched hard. I run 5/16" spacers on the front with my drag wheels, but the front tires see very little in the way of dynamic loading in a 1/4-mile pass.

Re: Wheel Adapters?

ok... its not real tight back there. but the bump stop is defiantly in the way when the rear hangs? it also seems that the tire rubs at the very front of the fender well, on the back part... its hard to explain w/o a pic...

they are 275s on these wheels.
