What Wheels??

This isn't a specific LT1 question but no one looks in the wheel/tire forum....am i right or am i right.

Alright It's time to go to Mickey ET streets.......so now i need a rim to but them on. So what rims are you guys using? Any pictures? I saw a while back some Centerline Telstars that looked okay. I need some ideas on what I should get. Lead me to a good wheel that's light and can mount some bad a$$ ET steets on.

Corvette ZR1 rims. 17x9.5 fronts, 17x11 rears

$890 with tires. They arent lighter than stock, but arent bad rims. I like them. Mine are white.

Asking what wheels people mount ET Streets/Drags on... not what you have on your car everyday.

Re: What Wheels??

I have Nittos.....they just don't do it anymore.....spin them at 15 even when i've been driving on them and heat them up.

I was planning on mounting them on stock wheels, but i looked and it said that the rim size should be like 10 inches, but now that I look on summit's site it says

Minimum Recommended Rim Width (in) 7.4
Maximum Recommended Rim Width (in) 9.4

So I guess i could run them on salad shooters after all So how do they work on salad shooters?? anyone have any problems? I still don't know if i want tubes to be put in them or not.......i will use these on the street some too

Sounds like you need some suspension mods to me.

Re: What Wheels??

Which ET Streets are you looking at? You shouldn't need more than the 26x10.5-15 or 26x10.5-16 with the times you are running. Both of those will fit fine on an 8" wide wheel. The stock 16x8's will work. The Telstar 15x8 is OK, but is only available with a 5" backspace, which puts the edge close to being out from under the fender. The alternative would be a Weld Pro-Star or Draglite, 15x8 5.5" BS, or a 15x10 7.5" BS, but now you need to grind the brake caliper fins down, and use the extra long shank mag-style lugs, with washers. May require longer studs. The ultimate solution in light weight and no clearance or hardware problems is the Bogart P1 Billet 15x9.5", specifically for the 4th Gen, but that is a very expensive wheel.

Re: What Wheels??

Is there that much advantage going from 16 to a 15" wheel? Those Bogart wheels are very nice. If i went with them i would want to run them all the time.....so 16 would look better than a 15 on the street. I would want to go to a 17" but there is no such thing as a ET Drag that fits 17's....lol

Re: What Wheels??

The taller sidewall with the 15's will help with traction.

The Bogarts are not recommended for "street" driving. They are designed as a single-purpose, straight-line racing wheel. The rear Welds are approved for street use, the 15x3.5 skinnies are not.

Do you want "looks" or "performance"?

First you were talking about ET Streets, now you are talking about ET Drags. Which tires are you looking at??????

M/T does make a 26x11.5-17 ET Street.

Re: What Wheels??

Yea I slipped and said Drag......I still mean E.t. Streets.

I really knidof want both performance and looks.....but i know i can't get best of both....but i'm looking for something in between. So the Road Race version of the Bogarts would probably work good then. Those are approved for street right? Maybe i'll look into 17" Road Race versions. Or are there any other 17" rims that are nice and wide that look good. I was going to do a 17X11 Torque Thrust II wheels, but everyone runs them and I'm not sure how it would look on my car.
