what tires for these rims...

ive been working at a tire store for over a year and i even work the front counter...so its almost embarrasing asking...

im looking at some rims. they are 18x8 up front, 18x9 rear. the package i was looking at comes with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18. two reasons i dont like this, not wide enough for a V8 and i have a feeling the rim is going to be sticking out way past the sidewall like i see on a lot of custom rims.

so i was thinking of 255/35/18 and 275/35/18. question is, will there be a problem with the tires buldging out over the lip? i'd imagine with a 35 series a tire thats too wide for a rim might even be hard to get the bead over the lip to seat.

we dont do too many custom rims at my shop so its hard for me to guess. anyone knowledgable in this area?

just get the 18x9's all around. yes they will fit(depending on the wheel) then run a 275/35/18 tire

well i like the staggered look, but as long as it will work, thanks for the input.

and i noticed in your sig you have yokohamas. are they the AVS ES100s? those were what i was looking at? ive got a set of 205/50/16s in my showroom and i'd imagine they hook up and handle great.

handle well, good front runners, similar to any other "performance tire" behind an LT1. drag radial or spinning is your choice. but caleb i actually plan on using the ES100s on the front of my car unless this summer unless something comes into my shop with something desirable. closest thing ive gotten so far was a set of 235-45-17 dunlops....ehhh w/e the es100s are fairly inexpensive.

these tires are garbage. straight line traction is non existant and im sometimes worried to push it too hard in the canyons

holy **** zach are you a part of GM eternal? i think i saw your car at the boystown show last year. you had those flames, the ES100s and ZO6s, cept you had them painted black back then.

anywho, im either going to get 18" speedy envys with yoko es100s or some ZR1s with nitto 555s up front and 315 nitto 555Rs rear (i think thats what the drag radials are).

Before you start picking out tires, make sure the wheels you are looking at have the correct offset. That's what determines whether they stay inside the fenders or stick out. There are guidelines in the FAQ "stickied" at the top of the forum.
