What tires to get?

I need a set of tires for 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 rims.

What kind and what width/profile should I go with?

275? 265?

295? 315?

Anyone recommend a good set?

Firestone Firehawks?

BFG KDWs?

Nittos?

Sounds good. That's the size that was recommended to me. James has 315s and his fender cuts his tread and sidewall on turns and bumps. He still has to still roll his fenders.

what tires did they send u?

Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval. I'm hoping with this offset/size I won't have to roll the fender lip.

I think I might have to get the same tire because BFG KDW doesn't come in the right size for the fronts and Nittos will wear down very fast on the rears. They are softer on 18s than on 16s...weird.

Re: What tires to get?

People have put 335/35-17's on a 4th Gen. How they fit without major hammering is puzzling, but its been done. Check with user "kmook". The purpose of the FAQ is not to tell you what fits on a particular body style. The purpose is to tell you what tire fits on what wheel width, according to most manufacturers.

As far as the wheel width for a 315/30-18, the numbers in the FAQ are based on a review of the recommended wheel widths for several manufacturers. If they say their tire would work on a 10.5-11.5" wide wheel, I personally wouldn't question it. Whether it "looks" best on a particular wheel is highly subjective, and that's not the purpose of the data included in the FAQ.

Yeah, you and I have both done 17x11's so we know there's very little clearance with 315's, let alone 335's. But as you pointed out, it's been done.

Re: What tires to get?

I would do a 275/40-17 and 285/35-18 and get some Goodyear F1 GSD3s, you have more choices in tires if you go with a 285/35 in the rear. You wont have as many problems as you would with the 315/30s. I have 315s on my car and the damn things still rub after doing EVERYTHING in the FAQ
