They hook well with my 6 speed lt1, wet traction is outstanding and after 5,000 abusive miles they still look like new. As an added bonus they shine up real nice too! Check out tirerack.com to see a ton of reviews on a bazillion different tires. I went with a local dealer here in mi. though for the best price. Firestone dealership on west road in trenton mi, 48183. ask for jason

I am on the yokohama avs es 100's, I have mixed feelings about them. Sometimes they don't hook for sh*t and other days they are great. I am not sure what is exactly going on?
I would just spend the money on sticky tires, if you don't your going to regret later on. I do

I decided to get the Goodyear Eagle F1 gs d3's... they seem to get good reviews across the board.. Ordered 4 of them for tirerack and it was under 830 shipped!! Local shop wanted 1,200, right....

Guess it all depends on what kind of deal you can find.
Re: What tires to get?
I have the 275/40/17 Ecsta ASX, got a set of 4 for $550 from Discount Tire Co. Main thing to consider in purchasing a tire online is that you then have to find somewhere that will mount the tires for you. If you don't have anyone to hook you up, that could be another $90 to $120 depending on places around. Most places if you purchase tires through them locally, they mount and install for you... which definitely gives you a little more spending money on the tires. At just over $135 a tire, my Ecstas ASX were a great deal... they're an excellent tire, really sticky, 36k mile warranty, and AMAZING traction compared to my Eagle tires or whatever that the previous owner purchased.. I can stop on a dime in pouring rain now, compared to my 15 foot skid stops in my previous tires.. Just my two cents.

Walmart - Mounting w/Lifetime rotating and balancing = $30
Tire prices @ tirerack
GSD3 = $198/ea w/$60 rebate for set of 4 - $732
MX = $164/ea - $656 for 4
$76 difference

I have Ecsta 712's on the front. Got them at Discount also. They're horribly out of round and took a lot of weight to balance. I'd rather pay more for a ROUND tire that handles better w/better traction. Just my .02 on the 712. The MX is said to be much better though. Good thing about Discount is that they'll patch flats FREE, and you usually can get them to come down on prices a bit too.

Agreed about Discount, great company to do business with. As far as Walmart's $30 mounting, that's per tire correct? Just wanted to make sure I understand as that's about the price most places give per tire.. doesn't seem bad until ya need all 4 mounted, at $120 a set that's a hunk of change to add on after purchasing tires on an internet site.
