What size slicks can I get for my car?

I was thinking about getting some slicks for my car-I would probably put them on a set of 17 x 11 ZR1's I have in the garage instead of the 17 x 11 Fikse's I have now.

Any particular brand i should look for? I hear a lot about Mickey Thompson's. I am looking at this website http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.html
and am confused. I've heard that I can get a tire within +/- 1" of my wheel size (so 10 or 12") is that what is under the column "Meas rim"?

If so, what does the "28.0/10.5-15" under tire size mean? Thanks for any help

Erik

Mickey Thompson recommends that the rim width be +/- 1" from the tread width. The "10.5" in the example you gave is the section width, not the tread width. Section width is simply the widest point on the tire casing. The "measured rim" indicates the width of the rim they used to determine that the widest point on that tire was 10.5". If you add 1" with to the rim, the section width will typically increase about 0.40", according to M/T.

The only tires M/T makes for a 17" rim are the 26x11.5-17 ET Streets with a 9.5" tread width and the 275/40-17 ET Street Radials. I don't think either of those would be a good choice for an 11" wide wheel. In general, a 17" wheel isn't the best choice for a drag tire.
