what backspace for 15 x 4 front Telstars?

I am looking to run the 15 x 4 Telstars on the front of my 95, just wondering what backspace I need?? I know for the 15 x 8 on the rear I need 5.5" so since the front is 4 inches narrower would I need 1.5" backspace on the front?

Just want to make sure I get the right size before I order.

These will clear LS1 front brakes wont they??

thanks

Re: what backspace for 15 x 4 front Telstars?

I have been searching this and can not find any clear answer on what backspace for the 15x4 Centerline Telstar for the front of a 95 with the LS1 brake conversion. Some posts say 1.75 BS others say 2.25BS I just need them to fit inside the fender. I will probably run a 165 tire.

This is for track use only.

I would like to get these ordered today if someone can clear this up for me.

I have a 15x3.5" wheel (not a Telstar) with 1.75" BS, and running a 5/16" spacer - that would be the equivalent of a 1.5"BS. To me, that wheel is too close to the outside edge of the fender. Just going by that, you should add the 1/2" extra width of a 4" wheel to the backspace, making 2.00" the least you would want to go with. My choice would be 2.25"

Re: what backspace for 15 x 4 front Telstars?

I talked to Centerline today and they only make them with 1 5/8 BS and they didnt know if I would have to use a spacer to clear the calipers.

I went ahead and ordered them through Summit, but they are back ordered til 6/26.

I guess I will try them and see if they will fit. As long as they dont hit the fender it should be OK since they will not be used on the street.

Doesnt anybody make some skinnies that will fit right without using longer studs??? (besides Bogarts)

Hey, I was doing a search and I know that this is an old post, but if you are still looking to run skinnies on an LT1 car with no mods needed go with the Centerline Convo Pro 15x4 with the 2 5/16" backspace (look in Jegs.com under the Convo Pros--too narrow for convolutions..)

I ran these for years and they tucked under the front fenders perfectly and required no mods at all on my 1995 Formula with stock brakes.

I went with the Centerline Telstars 15x4 1 5/8 BS. They seem to work fine with a 165 tire. They dont stick out, but do come out to the edge of the fender. I would have liked them to tuck in a little, but I dont think they look bad. I ran them at the track last weekend with no problems. (They are only being used at the track)

Here is a link to my site with some pics. The pics of the slicks/skinnies arent the best quality, I uploaded them at the wrong resolution, but you can still see how they fit.

Those Telstars look nice. What backspace did you get for thr rears? 5.5"? or 5"? I have been saving for Bogarts, but those look good, too. My concern on the rear is that I run a DR tire and they tend to have more sidewall buldge than a bias ply ET/slick and may stick out past the quarterpanel...

A little off topic question for you magnumv8. I really like that cowl hood on your car (really nice car by the way). would you be so kind as to tell me who makes it?? It looks like a 4" cowl. Thanks
