Ugliest overdone wheel choice...
Ugliest overdone wheel choice...
Its just me griping here about overdone wheels for the 4th Gen F-bodies. I wanted to see how alone I am in my opinion. I love the fact that there are so many choices of wheels for our cars, but I can't stand that even though there is such a big selection, there are SO many that choose the same particular wheels. The biggest gripe I probably have is TTII's. I don't care for the design, and everywhere I go I see them. The 2nd place worst looking wheel IMO is pretty much anything black. I have yet to see a black wheel on a 4th Gen F-body that I have liked the look of.
Am I alone here? Or are there more people that share my opinion. I didn't start this thread to upset anyone, so please don't take offense if you have one of these wheel types.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?
most of them look good, redundant to say the least but the main thing is the relatively cheap price of the above choices. while i do love the iforged and fikse wheels i can't force myself to spend that much on a set of wheels when i can put that money under the hood
If a wheel looks good, people are going to use them. Plus all those wheels are easily attainable, usually used. Later down the road I plan to replace my WS6s with some Fikse FM5s, its not an uncommon wheel by any means but they look good on these cars. I have had my stock wheels, ZR1s and then WS6s, by no means have I broken any norms. People like to stick to what they can get easily and what they know will look good.
I am not really asking "why" people go with these, as the TKTMAGNT's quote pretty much sums it up. I am more or less trying to see what kind of wheels other people dislike seeing on F-bodies.
I voted corvette not because they are ugly but because they are very common. I think they look awesome on these cars, but its like you said, everyone has them. I would own a set a chrome Z06s if I could afford them.
I personally have noticed that wheels and certain mods may be "overdone" on message boards, but on the streets they are the opposite. There is a reason we are all on this site, and we all share somewhat similar tastes. I am yet to see a Camaro with C6 wheels on it outside of a huge Camaro show. I saw a couple of sets at the Camaro Superfest, but that is just like seeing them on a message board. I just think people see all the pics of similar wheels on here, and begin to believe the same correlates to the street. It's not a bad thing to have similar taste with people on a Camaro board. If I could afford CCWs, I would have them. But, my C6 wheels are, reasonably priced, correct offset, chrome(easy to clean, unlike all the expensive polished wheels), and have a clean design.
That being said, TTII's are overplayed IMO because I see them on almost every make and model across the board, when I feel that the style of them only fits the classics.

The problem is that nice aftermarket wheels are many times inhibitively expensive. That's why you see a lot of "stock" GM wheels on our cars.
I just don't like the thin spoke wheels on anything but the vette and the TTII is way overdone, but they still look good.
