Trying to clean my ZR1 wheels.

There is some kinda weird build up on my chrome ZR1 wheels from sitting out in the weather Anyone know what the best way/product to use to clean this stuff off with?

HERE is a picture of what I am trying to clean up!

TIA

Re: Trying to clean my ZR1 wheels.

They're calcium/limescale deposits from micropores forming in the chrome layer. In other words, your chrome job is on it's way to giving up the ghost. You can probably knock out the calcium buildup by scrubbing with some CLR or LimeAway, (found in the cleaning products department of just about any grocery store), followed by some chrome polish as previously suggested.

Re: Trying to clean my ZR1 wheels.

OK I used a 0000 grit piece of steel wool and some meguiers wheel cleaner and they cleaned up pretty nice. Unfortunately they are kinda pitted in some areas but I did manage to get all the white stuff off so that they look decent again!

thanks for the help guys

Coat of wax should make it so the deposits don't form as quickly, and it will be easier to get dust off when you do clean them.
