Its even debatable whether the 36.5mm offset on the 17x11's is correct for the Firebird/Formula/TA. I have the 50mm offset, and the tires are just barely under the edge of the fender when you look down from the top. The 36.5mm offset would move the tire about 1/2" outside the fender.... and that's not they way I would want it.

There was a thread on the "Appearance" forum about 6 months ago, with pictures of both the 36.5mm offset and 50mm offset, and the general consensus was that the 50mm's looked better.

To me, even the 50mm is pushing it....

If you go to the AFS website (largest supplier of repro ZR1 and ZR1/GS wheels), they have a statement that the 36.5mm offset 17x11 is OK for the Firebird/Formula/TA, but will not work with the Z28. I'm not sure where this perception came from, or maybe its something like a feeling the Pontiac fenders bulge a little more, so they can use less offset on the rear wheels. But from my experience, this is not correct. The 36.5mm offset wheels will stick out from under the edge of the fenders on both the Pontiac and the Camaro.

AFS also says their 17" ZR1 replicas will not fit on 4th Gen convertibles. This also is not correct. I've personally installed the 17x9.5/17x11 ZR1/GS offset wheels on both a 97 SS convertible, and on my 94 Formula coupe, and there was no difference in the way they fit, interference, rubbing, etc.
